Michael:

I live in California and a week ago today (Friday the 11th) we had a big storm come through and wipe out power for millions of people all over California. Having a new iPod from Christmas I loaded up my podcasts and being Security Now listener for a while I had no new podcasts from them to listen to. So being an avid Linux user, and now on a development team for a new website, I wanted to find a good Linux podcast. So I checked out Casting From The Server room. I curled up in the dark on the couch with no power and listened. I heard them mention the pauldotcom security podcast and that it was a great security podcast. I checked my iPod and sure enough I had a few of your episodes on my ipod form my podcast downloading spree. I got half way through one podcast and I was hooked, it was everything I wanted in a security podcast. Steve Gibson and Mr. Leo never seemed to give me that real, down to the dirt security news, exploits, bugs, hacks etc. He is a bright man, but when actually getting out there to security conferences, testing exploits, working with tools etc he seems to be lacking a lot, and in my opinion that’s a major part is being a successful security professional. That night I listened to four full pauldotcom podcasts and a week later I have listened to 26 full pauldotcom podcasts, in a week! Keep up the good work, and I’m happy I have a real security podcast to listen to now. See you on the live stream tonight, and I will be ‘hilikus’ in the IRC channel : )

Well, something must have changed since I last communicated with you (see http://therning.org/magnus/archives/257). I'm not sure what though. I heard you when you were on the Linux Reality audio cast and thought I'd check you out again, just to see what you were up to. Well, episode 92 (both parts) was bloody brilliant, episode 93 was good too, and now I'm halfway into episode 94. I have no recollection of the earlier episodes being this organised and good. At some point when I wasn't listening you must have learnt to rock!

I enjoy the tech segment. The amount of banter is down and the episodes move along a lot more than I remember. No offence to Twitchy, but I'm not sad he isn't as involved any more, you know, Kramer is brilliant but Seinfeld just wouldn't be a good show if he were in each and every scene. Twitchy has more of a “celebrity guest” personality... The only criticism I have, and this is pushing it I know; given my walk to work I'd prefer each episode to be around 60 minutes, rather than 80-90  ;-)

Keep it up!

/M
